I love Directors Chairs. Their simple, utilitarian shape is classic. I didn't know just how classic they were until I did a little research.
This is King Tutankhamun's throne. He ruled from 1332-1323 B.C.!!!
Coffer-Makers Chair. 15th century
Coffer-Makers were artisans who made trunks wrapped in leather reinforced with nailheads. This translated into an extremely comfortable chair with a leather seat.
Well, it's no wonder why the Directors Chair is as popular as it is.
Whether they're used indoors or out, they're comfortable, easy to transport and visually appealing. This chair is certainly a Classic.
Here are a few of my favorite rooms that have used Directors Chairs!

I love leather seat directors chair! so cool!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are beautiful sets of director's chairs. With the brief history you shared, I believe something built with human experience is far better than something built with research. The pictures you shared are lovely. Even director's chair make great dining chairs as well. Hahaha! Thanks for sharing that, Charlotte! All the best to you!
