Beth and Chris Collier bought a boarded up, historic building once a hospital and later, a nursing home. Both have ties to this building in Washington, North Carolina once known as the Tayloe Hospital. Chris's grandfather and great-grandfather were doctors there and Beth's grandmother lived there when it was a nursing home.
Their initial tour of the boarded up building included a discovery of hundreds of dead pigeons in the attic!
While most people wouldn't even consider an undertaking of this magnitude, Chris and Beth, an interior designer, painstakingly renovated this beautiful Georgian building for their family. It also serves as their studio for their furniture line, vanCollier. Take a look!
Their front door was once the ambulance entrance.
Beth chose to paint their foyer red as a nod to Albert Hadley's famous New York City apartment.

I adore these cowhide barrel chairs from the Collier's furniture line. The extra-long tapered candles on the antique sconces add a bit of formality. Love them!
